Tunnel Drive is a 4 mile round trip hike that allows you to walk along part of the Arkansas River. The trail itself is actually part of the Canon City city parks system, which means it's a very well kept trail. The City has several...More

Amazing views of the river, mountains, and if your lucky enough you'll catch a glimpse of the train. Only about two miles, tunnels are awesome. Perfect for families or couples.

Restrooms by the trailhead, then steady uphill trail until you hit the old road. From there it's fairly level, with views down to the Arkansas River, and shade in the tunnels. Great walk, enjoyed by people and pets.

This trail starts out a little steep, but then levels off for an easy 2 miles of views and geology. Most of the rock is 1.7 billion year old gneiss, with some pegmatite and gabbro also visible. This route carried Canon City's water supply for...More

We did this walk the day after thanksgiving and the weather was Beautiful! The beginning had a decent incline but after that it was flat. Great views!

after hiking the canyon rim at Royal Gorge, we came here to hike the river. Boys love the tunnels and rocks. Views were beautiful. Easy path, would be great for young families.

Don't be fooled by the very steep incline at the beginning of this hike. It quickly levels off and follows the Arkansas River so you can watch rafters and kayakers. Bring water if the weather is warm and the sun reflects off the rocks. You...More

We really liked this hike along the river. The first 1/2 mile was the best, however, with the cool tunnels to walk through. We kept hoping to go through more, but after 2.5 miles, we gave up. I recommend going early in the day, it...More

This walk is close to the city and has amazing views. We like to walk here early in the morning or later at night. Not very many parking spots but worth the walk

After the few hundred yard rather steep incline, it is level and a beautiful walk. It is dog friendly. Highly recommend. Avoid if it is too hot because there is little shade other than the tunnels.
