This is a very tame yet stunning trail. Incredibly well maintained, and with a pit toilet st the trailhead. There are also some picnic benches along the trail. Two miles each way and all with the Arkansas River in view. Some really cool tunnels to walk through. The only steep bit is the first 1/4 mile, which is paved, and... More

I really loved this hike in Canon City. We stopped after our visit to Royal Gorge and got some great pix and views. We were told this Tunnel Drive used to be water pipes taking water to Canon City and maybe even Colorado Springs. Now the pipes are gone, leaving 3 tunnels. The first bit of the hike is a... More

In spite of the wind, we enjoyed a very nice stroll along this relatively flat and easy path (after the initial ascent). Seeing a bighorn sheep and cactus blooming were unexpected treats. This would be a great place for a family picnic. Hopefully, the trail will be lengthened someday!

It can be hard to find Tunnel Drive, and early on it's not necessarily obvious there's anything worth stopping at...but keep on to the end where there's a small, well-maintained park parking-lot (with restroom facilities). From there, a steep but manageable climb becomes completely level and wide and makes for a really pleasant walk on the old railroad easement above... More

This place is so beautiful! Very remote area to hike/walk. You can hear the river from up here. About a 2 mile long trail, one way.

On the edge of Canon City; this 4 mile round trip hike was perfect. After a short steep climb the trail levels out and follows the river upstream for two miles. You'll pass through a few old rail tunnels; hence the name. The views up and down the river valley are splendid. Highly recommend.

great fun for the family. the kids enjoy running and shouting through the tunnels but it wasn't too stressful for anyone who wants to hike it.

From the parking area is an uphill climb along a paved path that will make you huff and puff. Take your time and stick it out. Once you round the corner at the top then it's all easy and you'll be rewarded by walking through three tunnels - the longest more like a cave as it gets pretty dark. Once... More
