We went early on a weekday and had difficulty finding a place to park. The ranger station at the base of the trails led us to an area that was closed off for construction and we then hiked in the wrong direction for 45 minutes,...More

You cannot miss this unusual, iconic mountain range. Beautiful to view and photograph and interesting to hike. All free. Go to Chautauqua Park for great views and many trails.

This hike would be very enjoyable if there weren't crowds and crowds of people going up and down. Also people litter all over the place here and it doesn't seem like anyone really cares. Saw many dirty diapers on the side of the trails and...More

Unreal hike. Some of the trail was not clearly defined up top but what a view ! Short but steep and worth the hike

When you can get out doors and smell the fresh Rocky Mtn Air blowing up onto The Flatirons, you know how lucky to live in Boulder!

This Was just a day trip to just get some fresh air. The scenery was beautiful, what a wonderful place for a long walk. The mountains are breathtaking, we love this place.

When I walk to Pearl Street Mall. I walk down a hill and get an explosive view of the Flatirons. (Geologic rock protusions that look like the bottom side of an iron). Lordy it looks just like a prop from a big country western movie....More

They really do look like a flat iron, though slightly more rugged! You can view these beauties from the gorgeous campus at CU to downtown Pearl Street. For those who are fit, hike closer to seem them first hand

The Flatirons are the iconic mountains of Boulder Colorado. We visited early on a morning in June to paint the sun on the mountains. The paths are well marked and busy with hikers and dogs. Wildflowers and bright green grass everywhere-- this place is a...More

We were there much later than April when the weather was very warm and all the walks were available. Looking at the answers from other contributors it could be a problem or you may strike lucky. Sorry can't be helpful.
How would I be able to access the trailhead? I'm staying in Boulder near Pearl St. and don't have a car, so is there a bus I can take to get to the trails?

The main trails start at Chautauqua on the south end of town. I'm not sure how close a city bus can get you there but you would take Broadway south to 9th street and head west on 9th. You'd run right into it. It's only... More
We're looking to do some winter hiking in the Boulder area. Looking for moderate to difficult that don't require snowshoes. Is such a thing possible there during March? We'll be there in a couple of weeks.

As stated in the previous responses, you can hike the trails around Boulder in the winter but it is likely you will find the trails covered in places with snow and ice. There is a lot of foot traffic and the trails are... More
