This place is a short drive from Boulder and has fantastic views of both Boulder and the snow covered Rockies. There were a zillion people there, including hikers, bikers, and some questionable drivers, however. I went on a Saturday though, so I guess I should have expected tons of people to be there. I strongly recommend this place, Saturday or... More

Loved visiting Flagstaff Mountain. Recommend 4 wheel drive and a good camera. Spectacular views at every turn, bikers who you'd swear have motors to make them go uphill as they do, water rushing down the mountain next to gorgeous bike & walking paths - what's not to love??

Go in the summer for more breathtaking views. Be careful and make sure all roads are open in the winter

Great place to catch some lovely views of Boulder and surrounding area. Road is steep and narrow in places so proceed carefully. Can be windy. Good place to take out of town guests and family.

There is a large illuminated star from mid-November to early January. You can hike to the star from Flagstaff Road. Some caveats -- parking is scarce (definitely NOT at the restaurant), the slope is steep and when there is snow, very very slippery. When we went there was no snow cover but people were still slipping (usually unintentionally). Take a... More

I think that the road to, and infra-structure atop Flagstaff were constructed during the Civ. Conserv. Core era. It seems that there is that kind of "history" there. I first went up Flagstaff in the early 1970's on foot, as there was (and still is, i would suspect) a running race (5 miles) from bottom to top. I also went... More

It is a bit of a drive up a "hill" on the outskirts of Boulder, CO but well worth it. The view is special anytime, but begin at cocktail hour and extend through dinner. It will be memorable!
