Charming!

Nice variety of shopping and dining. Art gallery, Chamber of Commerce, restaurants and pubs all within a few blocks. Safe, quiet, friendly tourists and merchants.

This is a fun area to look at the buildings and just imagine the gold rush days. The old barbers are a fun bunch to sit and chat with.

Informative plaques on buildings guide you on your walk of this historic street, telling of the fire of 1871 and of the mining history of Yreka.

This is worth a 10 minute detour off of interstate 5. A couple restaurants but not too much to see in Yreka.

This area is perfect for history buffs, the plaques on the buildings allow you to take a self guided tour of downtown. The local restaurants and shops are a great place to rest and relax after a long day of traveling. Liberty Arts is a wonderful place to end your tour, the artwork is inspiring and always a pleasure to... More

They have great shops, mostly mom and pop. They have great thrift stores and a great used book store.

A nice reminder of small town America, Northern California style. Buildings very nice but local economy not strong and many stores empty. Shows how much small towns rely on tourism, as you can see how much better Shasta is doing, just a few miles down the road.

Took an evening walk just as shops were closing up so we only went into a few. Very unique shops for all sorts of interests - from used book store to jewellery shop to antique store (where Mrs found a super buy). I'd like to return during full business hours, but travel plans are in the way this time.

Historical buildings, small shops not much for the traveler interested in mining history though. Sad but true. Yreka could have a lot of tourism if mining history was showcased. The Mother lode area of Nevada City, Amador, Sutter to name a few have local gold in jewelry shops, mining collectibles in their second hand stores, great book stores, historical hotels,... More

Driving down this district lets you know what an old logging town looked like many years ago. Some of the buildings are used for modern businesses, some set empty, but it's worth the drive if you are in town.
