Recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century, Filoli welcomes the public to this remarkable 654-acre property. Designed between 1915 and 1917 and set against the dramatic backdrop of the northern Santa Cruz mountains in Woodside, California, Filoli is an excellent example of the Golden Age of American garden design and country house architecture.

Opened to the public in 1976 as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Filoli features a 36,000 sq. Ft. Home and a 16-acre English Renaissance Garden. In addition, Filoli's property includes a 6.8 Acre Gentlemen's Heritage Orchard and a trail system that transverses five different ecosystems for docent-guided nature hikes.

Filoli is dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and stewardship of the cultural traditions and natural history of this country estate for public education and enjoyment.

After having an excellent lunch at the cafe (thanks Andrew!) we tour the house and gardens. Breathtaking! We chose not to take the guided tour and explored on our own. There were guides in each room to answer any question you might have. We had questions about the families that lived there and of the period furniture. The room hosts... More

LOVED our visit to Filoli. The house on a self guided tour of the 36,000 sq ft home, first floor is only open for touring, takes about an hour to see. The grounds are fabulous and a real pleasure to walk Surpasses homes I've seen in Europe. Can't wait to come back.

This is located adjacent East Bay Regional Parks property. The house is huge, but the gardens are even more enormous. I would suggest going in May, June so you can see everything in bloom.

I visit Filoli Gardens every year in the Spring time when the most beautiful flowers are blooming. The variety and the varied colors of flowers never disappoint. The two story Estate is a charming home that still has some of it's original furniture and artwork. The upstairs is closed to the public but you will have plenty to see on... More

This was my third visit. I've been in the fall to visit the house when the gardens weren't in bloom, I've visited in the spring when the gardens are just gorgeous and this most recent visit was for their holiday boutique. I will say the holiday open house was just beautiful but it was so crowded that it was nearly... More

I went to the 60 per cent off shopping Christmas event at Filoli Gardens Its a fun time to go shopping and find treasures for gifts and for one's self. This is held after their Christmas party week which is held around Thanksgiving. It is a lot of fun to go to. One can explore the mansion looking for things... More

The history of Filoli is fascinating -- the owners, architect and garden designers. The gardens are beyond description, and the docents will offer wonderful insight into the history of the house and evolvement of the gardens. There is no bad time to go, but the spring blooms are amazing. Wear good walking shoes, and the walkways are fine gravel --... More

I feel so blessed that this place is just a few miles away from my home. I took my mother to visit Filoli in May of 2016 and it was quite a treat for both of us. The gardens are magnificent during the spring. We went in the morning, enjoyed the mansion first, then had lunch at their cafe (they... More

Filoli stands for "Fight," "Love," and "Life". The stately mansion is huge. One can imagine being an invited guest back in the early 1900s. And the gardens are vast and glorious. A Woodsie "Must see"!

We visited Filoli today, mostly to see the gardens, but also enjoyed the the self-guided tour of the house. Gardens were spectacular, with much in full bloom. Blue Skies and sunshine certainly helped. We were there about two hours, and greatly enjoyed the visit. The house tour is good too, and included in the price of admission.
