Way to hot in the summer. Many of the cabins do t have air conditioning. Lastly as you can see in the news face is burning up. Lotta dead trees in fire damage really one of the least pretty national parks in the US. Just dried up.

Winter, summer, spring or fall, we go here for the relaxed friendly vibe and access to Glacier Point and the stunning beauty of Mariposa Grove. One day during our stay we drive into The Valley and do some hiking, eating, and picturetaking. The Wawona Hotel features the superb musical skills of Mr. Tom Bopp, pianist and historian extraordinaire, who tickles the ivories and delights the parlor habitués with his deep knowledge of Yosemite history and American songbook classics. Try to stump Tom--it ain't easy!

In addition to its lovely historical building, breathtaking nature, large fire-place in a warm, cosy lobby and helpful staff Wawona Hotel has a unique treasure--a marvelously talented musician called Tom Boppe who most nights dazzles guests with his piano, his erudition and his vast repertoire of American classics. My family and I spent a most beautiful New Year Eve's thanks to his generous performance. Wawona Hotel truly special with this timeless musical moment.

Wawona is a place with historical aroma, and not eccidentally declared a National Historic Landmark. The hotel unique structure, along with the Visitor Center connects you to the history of Yosemite Park.

This is on the same side close to the Mariposa Grove. Ample parking, visitor center near by and helpful staff. It was nice to just look at this older structure and imagine it back in it's original hayday.

We took a whole day tour from Yosemite Valley visiting many sites on our way down to see the Sequoia Redwoods. We stopped here for lunch.Just to warn you there is no air conditioning, but the way it was built the temperature was very cool inside. The grounds are wonderful and peaceful. Rocking chairs and table around porch. They have a visitor center if you want to souvenirs. It was a good spot to relax efore heading to see other sites on our journey.

From the roadside this stands out as a smart hotel lodge but without being an an eyesore to the nature that surrounds it. Good parking. Visitor centre information.

We stopped here to get some information. it's an old lodge and quaint. The person at the desk was very helpful to us, making sure we got out of the park easily during some bad weather. The restaurant there is quite good, if pricey.

This is the historic Wawona Hotel (renamed Big Trees Lodge) that was built in 1876 for visitors in route to Yosemite Valley passing through Wawona. It is set just across the road from the meadow. The hotel has been a declared National Historic Landmark since 1987.

We enjoyed walking around the old Wawona Hotel after our light hike around the meadow last month. The buildings are Victorian in architecture and quite beautiful to see if you plan to stop in Wawona during your visit to the national park.

Guest can stay at the Big Trees Lodge and eat at the restaurant here. Otherwise, if you are a fan or architecture, do spend a few minutes viewing the properties here when passing through Wawona.
