Topaz Lake is bisected by the Nevada/California border like Tahoe, but much smaller and less developed. It is about 70 miles south of Reno. You can rent boats, jet skis, skis and a lake tour available here. Easily accessible from HWY395. The town of Topaz is just north of the border and has a few motels, lodge, general store, casino... My wife and I stayed at the Topaz Lake Lodge RV Park for 5 days and 4 nights. It's a steal at $22.00 a night. You have access to the lodge pool you get a coupon book with $2.00 food credits at the lodge restaurant and free drink at the bar. The food at the restaurant is excellent and the... More

We really enjoyed spending time at this lake on a recent roadtrip. It's very quiet and there are very few visitors, even at weekends. You can boat, swim, jet ski etc etc. The beaches are fairly rocky and we were fairly disappointed that there was a lot of litter on some of them. However the lake is extremely beautiful especially... We visited again Topaz Lake on our drive south on highway 395, This is a pretty lake on the California - Nevada border. This time we visited in April. They have their big fishing derby each year in January. There is also a casino where they have a view of the lake. This time we visited late April.

We stayed here in what was obviously the pre-season. The campground was virtually empty which was fine with us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The showers were excellent and hot. The far side of the lake is a great place to go for excellent waterfowl photography. At night I was able to get great star photography.

I have been to Topaz Lake for camping vacations with the ski boat, fishing trips at the lake as well as nearby streams, and enjoying the casino and staying in their lodge. Topaz, especially the Casino, is like being in a cowboy time capsule. I mean this in the warmest fashion, and as a people watcher, I find it enjoyable... More

We have visited Topaz Lake a number of times. We have enjoyed picnics and fishing in the area. We have also visited the casino there. The restaurant at the casino (Topaz Lodge and Casino) has a very nice view of the lake. The restaurant often has dinner specials such as spaghetti night. Lake Topaz is a desert type lake with... I enjoyed swimming in this wonderful lake. The water was clear and warm and felt great on a hot summer day.
