About
Peachy Canyon is one of the oldest family owned and operated wineries on Paso Robles' west side. The tasting room is located in a refurbished 1800's era schoolhouse on one of Peachy Canyon's five estate vineyard properties (the appropriately named "Old Schoolhouse" vineyard). We're known for our award-winning red Zinfandel lineup—including super premium Zins that are often produced in lots of less 400 cases each—as well as our Bordeaux and Rhone varietal wines. We believe in sustainable winemaking and are dedicated to "keeping it local." Our vineyards are managed by us, and all grapes are harvested and processed by hand by our team. Our tasting room offers a spacious lawn picnic area and a gazebo, not to mention beautiful vineyard surroundings! Stop by with a picnic and have a glass with us... Chairs, blankets, (leashed) pets and children always welcome.

We had an awful time there over the weekend. So disappointed we went there. They brought out one flight for 3 people to share with a $25 tasting fee each. We bought bottles and shouldn’t have for the trivial treatment we received. Be warned they automatically add 15% tip on your purchase. Never again.

We have been here years ago. So quaint. No reservation required. It was so pleasant outside in the sun. Good wine! Great service. Two people share the little mason jars. Free tasting if you buy a bottle.

Loved the rural setting with vineyards, oak trees, and an old school house. We were greeted by Finely, the constantly moving vineyard pup, immediately after getting out of the car. The tasting are outdoors only (mask required until seated), but it is so lovely that is where you want to be. A nice Counoise based rose, two Zins, a Malbec and a Cabernet Sauvignon were bought out in 4 oz servings that we poured. These was minimal conversation from the server, but we enjoyed being left on our own to sip wine, chat, and soak in the ambience. The Bailey Zinfandel was my clear favorite, although all of the wines were well made and at reasonable price points ($28 to 50). Great place to chill in Templeton!

I am always on the hunt for the smaller, boutique wineries. Peachy Canyon was a great find on our recent trip. Most wineries if not all in Paso Robles are requiring reservations for tastings during Covid. We made our reservation and got there with 5 minutes to spare. The tasting room is not open, you will be seated out in the grass lawn area which I loved. They have picnic tables social distanced and the staff bring the wines out to you. It was a beautiful day and such a lovely spot to sit and taste some incredible wines. We found their wines to be flavorful, many were fruit forward which I love and very smooth and drinkable. Sarah took care of us, she was fun and very knowledgeable about the wines. We had a hard time choosing, but settled on our 3 favorites. We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting, our time outside and their wines. This one has been added to our favorites list.

We enjoyed our tasting at a garden table and chairs in the shade. They bring out the wines in little jars which is very cute. We asked to try a few wines in addition and they were not pouring anything but the estate wines. This is disappointing for fans of their lower price wines, and not something we’d encountered at other wineries.

Due to Covid, all of the wineries serve their wines outside, with social distsncing. Peachy Canyon has a beautiful, picturesque place to relax and enjoy your wine. You get a nice view of the hills and nearby vinyards. They have a pretty kitty named Peaches. The wines are very nice and leave you wanting more. .

We enjoyed our tasting at Peachy Canyon. They served the wines outside. Each was prepared in little jars. The grounds are lovely and the wines are good. Our host said that they were the 9th oldest winery in Paso Robles.

Came through not part of the wine safari that was going on, based on a friends recommendation, and did a tasting here. There was a camel in the yard that was our highlight.

Paid $15 for a tasting that would be waived if we purchased 2 bottles. Average bottle price is $30+, so this should have been a clue of what to come.

Just to preface, we stopped at Tobin and Pear Valley and purchased several bottles, so we have been finding good things.

We were politely greeted by a very busy, but informative wine rep. We started at the top and worked our way down the list. My wife and I split the tasting and one after next, we ended up pouring them out. My wife is very particular, so it didn't surprise me, but when I couldnt?

Which brings me full circle to the pricing of the tasting being waived with the purchase of two bottles. To in is huge and doesn't charge, Pear Valley (great sweet whites and rich reds, especially the Malbec)is much smaller and charged $10, waived with a purchase of one bottle.

We stopped in and learned that their red heavy lineup is not for us AND the tasting policy can be a red flag.

On our recent trip, Hubs and I managed to hit 4 different wine areas (appellations?) in California PLUS we live in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, so we do a LOT of wine tasting. But our experience at Peachy Canyon was a REAL disappointment.

When we arrived, we were met by the winery cat. (We are cat people - note my profile name and picture), so we thought we were off to a good start. But, alas, the cat was the friendliest thing about the place.

There was one other couple in the tasting room. They were obviously wine-club members, so they were treated like royalty. We sat down on the bench since my husband is handicapped and requested to share a tasting. (Hubs had a cold). The woman who served us couldn't have been less gracious if she tried.

She acted as if she didn't care about us...the wine..the location..nothing. She acted as if this was merely her job and she had to put in her time to get her paycheck. Since many of their wines are zinfandels and the number of wines you can taste are limited, I asked for her opinion and she hesitated to even give me any differentiating characteristics among the different Zin choices. In the end, she recommended the most expensive. Maybe she didn't like the fact she had to walk across the room to serve us. Maybe she didn't like the fact that we shared a tasting.

We did end up purchasing a couple of bottles. Here in Oregon, we don't currently produce much Zinfandels and I like having a couple on hand. But if you want a true, wine-tasting experience where the people actually care about their product and will take the time to treat you like the guest that you are, go elsewhere! There are great wines everywhere.

I'd give fewer stars, but the cat deserved a star for herself.
