Pretty cool view and there are enough trains that if you wait a bit one will usually go by and you can see it cross over itself. There is a historical marker and a place to pull off the road so you can view it....More

If you are interested in trains the. This is a must see location. There are several vantage points to get up close with BIG trains working hard to climb the mountain. No trespassing is required for good photos or videos of trains looping over/under themselves.

We were able to find the vantage point above the famous loop. Luckily a westbound train came through while we there and got to see the loop in action. Another good photo op is on a pullout a little farther south. Trains come through about...More

Absolutely great. The history of the loop is very Interesting, and the tunnels are so exciting. The trains are exciting to watch go around the loop. The trains are pulled and pushed by huge engines....beautiful

I had no idea anyone would ever think of such a thing! The grade is too steep for the train to just go up so it has a loop that goes up and around and (I think) through, itself, quite a unique idea! That apparently...More

The Tehachapi Loop is truly a marvel. It's fun to watch the trains double over on themselves. My kids were fascinated it when they were younger. The trains are very frequent. The parking situation can get a little hairy, though!

Took a mornin ride and was lucky enough to see a train go by because you never know how long you will have to stay there to catch one. She thought it was an awesome site to see.

I was expecting to see more but the views from the road limit the sightline to actually see the train entering or leaving the tunnel. Actually saw more from interstate but there is no pullout to view the trains. Maybe I was spoiled by one...More

Several years ago, my husband and I camped along the tracks at the Tehachapi Loop - it was GREAT! Freight trains all night long - best birthday in a while. Now we stop by on the way to Olancha, CA, for Thanksgiving with the family.

Hello there That is a very good question to ask. If my memory is correct they are on the hour. The one we saw was a long freight train so you get a chance to see it. The other place you can see trains in a more comfortable... More

The Tehatchapee Loop is a railroad feature and not a hotel. So, no meals except for those you pack in your car.
