Needs to be cleaned up a bit, but was able to enjoy a beautiful day and get in some exercise. River was very full from the last rain storm beautiful to look at while walking.

This is one of the most interesting and beautiful bike trails I have seen in the U.S. Heading west from Susanville, the trail runs along the picturesque Susan River, and offers views of sheer bluffs and pine and deciduous forests. The trail comprises several old wooden bridges over the river and at least 3 tunnels, all part of the old... More

Wonderful old railroad grade = almost flat, multi-user friendly. Follows the Susan River up hill from town. October = fall colors. Saw a couple of deer, and not many people. Has mile/Km markers. Several parking lots and access points along the way.

Extraordinarily beautiful scenery along this rail-to-trail ride in Northeastern CA. Biked 7 slightly uphill miles in and 7 out in canyon trail along clear bubbling Susan River. More mileage if you have time. Rock formations, foliage, and canyon views demand frequent stops for photos. Note:Tunnels best with headlight. Most beautiful ride in I have been on in US. Hybrid or... We have ridden this trail several times over the years and love it. Lots of bribes, creeks and water to ride beside, and some old railroad tunnels dot the trail. You can do 25 miles one way if you like, or just ride different sections as their are trailheads all along where you can start or end a ride. We... More

The Biz trail is a great place to spend time hiking or biking. Nice scenery and the trail runs along the Susan River. There are many entry points.

It's been a long time since my brother, I and a couple dogs hikes this trail named for the man that made the conversion of old railway tracks into trails. We had a beautiful hike on this gradual grade wide trail. This is used by horseback riders, hikers, runners etc. We parked at the trailhead in Susanville, hiked several days... More

A great place for an easy hike. It's an old railroad line so it is smooth. The whole walk is next to the river and in the trees. Plus you go through tunnels and over bridges. It's very scenic.
