Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For many years I drove by the sign for Audubon Canyon Ranch, but did not enter the preserve until recently, and I am glad a did. The preserve is comprised of 1000 acres and has 8 miles of moderate trails that lead you through various landscapes, including vistas with expansive views of Bolinas Lagoon and beyond. If you are not a hiker, you can simply visit the site buildings or attend an educational lecture. It is NOT open year round - has a "public season," when it is open Saturdays over the summer. So check the website before you go.

This is a great place to get close to nature -- to see birds and other small animals in their natural habitats, and to enjoy the sounds of nature unimpeded by our busy daily lives. Woth a visit when in the Sinson Beach/Bolinas Area.

I love hiking around Adubon Canyon Ranch! This sanctuary is located in between Stinson Beach & Bolinas and is a wonderful place for a picnic or a short hike on the ridge.

Decided to do Audubon Canyon Ranch after visiting Muir Woods and we were so glad we did. It's such a neat area, unlike anything we have on the East coast. There are plenty of trails, with some leading up to amazing views of the ocean. We were lucky to get a guide named Mike, who was excellent. We had a 4 year old and a 9 year old with us, and Mike and everyone in our group was more than happy to go at the kid's speed and give them extra time searching for newts. It ended up being one of our favorite things we did on our 1 week vacation. We saw lizards, newts, quail, hummingbirds and plenty of other birds as well. Mike, as well as our whole group, were just fantastic. We will definitely be back the next time we're in California.

This beach is amazing! I have been all over the coast of California and Stinson is one not to miss. The cold Pacific ocean is beautiful and bold. The beach itself is very clean and wide, giving everyone room to enjoy the ocean. The drive here is breath taking. Be prepared if you get car sick, Highway 1 is no joke...but one of the best drives you will ever experience. Bring a lunch and make a day out of it...you will not be disappointed!!! This is what Northern California beaches are all about.

A nesting colony of great egrets. The birds nest in the redwood trees in the canyon and feed from the lagoon. The hike to the observation platform is moderate and there are scopes set up for watching the action in the nests.

I went to the Adubon Canyon Ranch in mid-May, It was a challenge to find, but well worth the drive. The drive is beautiful, scenic, passing through the bay waters, viewing the birds along the way. This event is free but I donated to this great cause of protection of habitat and upkeep of the reserve. The parking is adequate but it is unpaved and very dusty. The volunteer docents are very helpful. You do need to hike up a trail, it is steep but they have handrails and it is well marked. When I went the cranes were laying on their eggs. The eggs were large and bluish in color. There was a fledging we saw which was quite small. I'm going back this weekend to see the life cycle. I was informed that the eggs should all be hatched and the demanding chicks should make quite a show.
