I've been to Napa a couple times and have to say I prefer Sonoma. Napa feels like you are in a scene from 'The Stepford Wives.' Sonoma has a more relaxed, California feel to it. If you like edible gold and prefer style to substance...More

We had the most wonderful week in the Sonoma Valley. A wedding at a private venue, visits to wineries. Everything was just great. The valley is so beautiful, tall hills and views in every direction. Beautiful sunsets. Even a storm was pretty.

Lovely drive to see many wineries. The ride is pretty with grapevines and hills and valleys. Be sure to stop at some of the smaller vineyards!

We stayed at a great Airbnb in Sonoma, not far from the Plaza. We toured the valley on an open air trolley car and visited 4 outstanding wineries. What a great experience. The valley is amazing if you like wine and beautiful landscapes.

Stayed at a wonderful pocket farm in a barn overlooking a work out arena for Arabian horses. In fact, the horses and I shared the accommodation. Fun! Quiet. Nice views of the Sonoma valley.

The land was just breath taking and the history of the families that passed their gifts from generation to generation was amazing. Definitely work the trip.

We stayed in an Airbnb just outside the city. Beautiful view of the valley and vineyard next door. Local host with good suggestions for the area. Quiet relaxing option
My husband and I will be traveling to the wine country in May for our anniversary. We will have 3 day and 3 nights. we are looking for easy going area that is centrally located so easy to get to wineries during the day, walk to dinner at night, relaxing not super crowded. this will be our first trip here so I have no idea where to go/stay. any recommendations would be helpful. right now I don't even know where to stare.

I definitely recommend the Sonoma area rather that Napa which is just too busy. I can't help with hotels, but Trip Advisor has many suggestions.
We are heading to Sonoma Valley in October. Looking for suggestions for hotels and wine tours or some type of local transportation to the wineries. Working with a tight budget. Any suggestions?
