If you have any interest in learning how things work, the scale model and explanations make this such a worthwhile exhibit. It's not fancy in its display (not flashy), but it is fascinating to see how water supply is impacted. And get to learn a...More

I hadn't visited since the 70's. Fun to learn about the bay and how the model is used. A little confusing finding the entrance. There is a lot read, watch and learn. We enjoyed, allow at least a couple of hours.

This is a great piece of history that thankfully still operates and works today. If you are lucky you can see it operating when you go. We got lucky and got to see it filling up after we had wandered around and through the museum...More

Great (free) opportunity to understand how the Bay works and the work done by the team to modelise it. Worth spending 2 or 3 hours, also nice exhibition on the war time shipyard.

This free attraction run by the US Govt is in Sausalito just minutes from San Francisco. It was built for real research, but converted to educational purposes in 2000. It is a huge (3 football fields) model of the SF Bay Estuary and Sacramento Delta....More

This was such a trip, seeing a scale model of the entire watershed! Used to predict the ramifications of public works alterations and disasters, this model has helped leaders make decisions for years. So interesting to see how everything relates to everything else! Fascinating! Worth...More

I'm a bit of a geek, admittedly, but I love the Bay model. It's a quick trip over from the City on the ferry and then a relatively short walk from the ferry terminal. Another short walk to Fish for a late lunch or early...More

Learning how the water flows in an out of San Francisco Bay and all the other local watersheds is the thing at this super model that takes up a couple of blocks. Great informational displays as well, about the flora and fauna of the area,...More
