This is the place to go to see some very good art. There are several world-class photography galleries. You will also see an interesting variety of paintings, drawings, prints and new art. If you want to see every gallery, expect to spend two hours or more. I visit every time I am in Santa Monica.

Excellent small galleries. Fun experience. Since all very close-- if do not like one exhibit, steps to next. Easy free parking and yes-- the gift shop( actually also A gallery) --had special and reasonably priced items.

Like browsing art galleries, this is the place. And it's even a great spot for picking up unique little gifts within some of the galleries. Check their website for special events and perhaps you will catch an opening weekend.

If you're into art, this place is a must see & do. The new Metro train stops right at this place. Around forty-five galleries all open to the public.

Galleries everywhere! Lunch is doable but better restaurants nearby driving. There's a really cute & unique gift shop there too.

Just saw the Ed Moses @90 at the William Turner and then hit my fave place the Functional Art Gallery. Great little gift shop with funky art and one of a kind fun gifts.

Quite a few exceptional galleries. I particularly enjoyed amazing Marilyn Monroe photos in one and a most impressive exhibit of photos by Brazilian Photographer Sebastiao Salgado. There is much more and certainly worth a visit.

We went to see the Salgado photography and it was amazing... we then spent a bit of time heading to nearby galleries and saw interesting works, but the Salgado exhibit was spectacular. It closes sometime in April. If you have the opportunity, it is worth a trip to Santa Monica.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
