The beach was beautiful with amazing views from the pier. There are some good little shops and places for food. My favorite was the sea lion sunning himself and the dolphins jumping not too far out.

I grew up in LA and so I remember what the pier looked like before the amusement park. So visiting it the other day with my daughters, was very nice, unique, nostalgic and overall amazing. They loved getting on the ferris wheel, roller coaster and other rides. The old school arcade is still very nostalgic of what arcades used to... More

It was very busy on our trip this time over labor day weekend, the sun was shining and there was plenty of people enjoying themselves. Good for a stroll and an ice cream by the beach

I love going here spontaneously! Cute area with vibrant people! There is lots to do and see and we're not even talking about the beach yet.

Great tourist attraction you actually can park on pier. I tried the big wheel which kind of scary if you don't like heights. This pier was used in filing of The Lost Boys and the original Zoltar used in the film Big is there also. There's quite performers on the pier I'll leave for you to decide.

We visited Santa Monica as a day trip while visiting LA. It's a lovely beach-side location with lots of shops and attractions. We think it's HEAPS better than Venice.

If you are in Santa Monica, visiting the pier is a must do. At least once. Nice views of the ocean plus, evening views looking back at the hotels is pretty as well.

This was the one place while in LA that I wanted to go to. There were several shops and restaurants on the pier, and of course the amusement rides. Mainly, we were just there for the experience of being there. We ate at Bubba Gump's on the pier. Even at night, there was a decent view.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
