The barn is a great place for a picnic. We did the small trail to the cliff with our two kids of 3 and 6. Flat and easy for them

Stunning paths along the cliff edges. Was in the lookout for poison oak but didn’t happen to see any so that was a relief. Wish we had more time to keep riding. Definitely a must stop in Santa Cruz. The farm looked amazing as well...More

I wanted to spend some time outside enjoying the beautiful spring weather so I picked this state park. I walked on a trail to the bluffs. There were wildflowers growing all along the trail. The bluffs were lovely. There were many other hikers/runners/cyclists out so...More

Great place for an easy hike, but choose your trail carefully. East of 1 it's mostly a mountain bike place, but there are a few old ranch roads that make for a nice walks with exceptional ocean views.

The coastal hike to Fern Grotto Beach is gentle with spectacular vistas and fascinating wildlife. I didn't expect the walk out to be so easy! The grotto was beautiful, but a little bit spooky too.

The old Wilder Dairy family ranch made its way into the hands of local community as a sea fronting historic site with miles of trails inland of hwy 1 and two Victorian era homes of the glory days.

A few years back, we rented a house just two miles south of this state park and never knew it existed, but what a find! A 2-3 Mike trail winds its way along the cliff side. Magnificent, almost completely undeveloped views...pelicans, gulls, egrets, terns, sea...More

Wilder Ranch has something for everyone. A fairly gentle hike with wildflowers, birds, butterflies and other wildlife. And then at the end, amazing views of the bluffs with the ocean waves crashing below. You also have the ranch itself which has farm animals with a...More

It is $10 to park. There is an out house at the parking lot. There are 2 sides of trails here. You can hike/walk the ranch side trails, there are many. We have done that before and found it nothing special. Better foe bikes on...More

Black Friday hike! Trails are not clearly marked/identified to get to locations. Parts of trail is closed and must have a GPS to make sure you stay on the path. Farming paths can easily be mistaken for trail paths. No bathrooms available once you leave...More

We took the walk to the fern grotto and as I remember there really didn't appear to be anyplace to walk along the beach let alone ride horses. It is a very rocky coastline, at the bottom of a cliff mostly.
