We took the train that goes through the Redwood State Park and into the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. What a fun way to arrive in Santa Cruz! The trip was fun and beautiful. My kids loved it.

The train ride itself was ok. It would be helpful if they had preboarding for elder or disabled folks, cushions (for rent?) And handicap parking closer to the venue. It is quite a hike. Do arrive an hour early! They board early. Overpriced.

This was a fabulous way to see the forest and not have the pressure of walking. The conductor was excellent and gave lots of background of the railroad, engine, and trees.

The kids loved going on the redwood train up to the top of Bear Mountain. It was about an hour ride up and back down. Educational and historical talk by conductor helps people learn about the area. 2 pieces of advice - 1. Buy tickets...More

I would not recommend it. It is a bumpy ride and a lil crowded. It really just a time to appreciate the amazing beauty of the forest and take it all in. Eating would distract from that and might disrupt the other guests... More
