The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself! The Mystery Spot was discovered in 1939 by a group of surveyors and opened to the public in 1940. The Mystery Spot has amazed and perplexed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world, and many return time and time again to experience these puzzling variations of gravity, perspective, and height. Some speculate that cones of metal were secretly brought here and buried in our earth as guidance systems for their spacecraft. Some think that it is in fact the spacecraft itself buried deep within the ground. Other theories include carbon dioxide permeating from the earth, a hole in the ozone layer, a magma vortex, the highest dielectric biocosmic radiation known anywhere in the world, and radiesthesia. Whatever the cause is, it remains a mystery.

Our family had a great time at The Mystery Spot near San Cruz. Fun, cheesy jokes, mind blogging time. Be sure to wear shoes with good treads or traction. Felt a little "sea sick" or motion sick while inside the cabin but didn't last to...More

My son and I loved Mystery Spot - the tour guide was great and I loved the old-fashioned tourist-trap humor, etc. It's also just a beautiful area! I highly recommend this place to families - they really make it fun for you and the kids!

Maybe it is optical illusion or some magnetic fields, still I love the whole system. Our demonstrator was excellent and showed us the whole thing in a very light mood. It was nice to hear him and nice to see him showing anti gravity activities....More

We got there early on a Thursday morning, great tour guide, you get fully involved. Fun and wacky, lots of info, so weird how it defies gravity!

We visited about an hour ago (4pm on 13 June) and only had to wait a few minutes to join the 45 minute tour with Dawn + her trainee + about 12 other visitors. She is very cute and funny and her style of humour...More

We could not believe the crowd and full parking lot. The road in is very bumpy with lots of beautiful redwood trees. We decided not to buy a ticket and visit the inner workings because of the crowds. It was definitely a mystery why so...More

It's hard to write a review of this attraction, because the whole experience is a conundrum. It's certainly worth going to if only because it challenges your mind and defies known logic. We went three days ago and I'm still pondering it. It would have...More

I agree with the other people who responded in regards to your dog. I don't agree with the 'total ripoff'. It's just something fun to do, and I have spent the same amount of money for a 2 minute quick thrill (with an hour... More

Considering that the location is off the road, I would suggest a Taxi. It is also a few minutes outside of Santa Cruz.
