Harish has organized wonderful walking and boat tours tour of old Varanasi. However, I had some special needs: 1) a list of specific Hindu temples. Harish worked with an experienced Hindu guide and driver and the tour was excellent. 2) a list of specific Mosques - Harish found an excellent driver and a Muslim guide and who knew many of... More

First day of meetings over and jet lag kicking in. We decided to drive up to the University of Santa Clara to visit the Mission of Santa Clara de Asís. The mission / station was founded by Spanish Franciscan monks back in 1777 – the station’s patron Saint Claire has not only given her name to the station, but to... More

This mission is in a beautifully landscaped setting and the church is very pretty. There are brochures detailing the architecture and religious statues. If you enjoy visiting missions I would recommend it.

Sitting on the beautiful campus of Santa Clara University is one of the famous California Missions. It is a stunning, well kept, building, inside and out. I live in Santa Clara and walk the campus and visit the mission many times during the year. It's a peaceful place to walk your dog or stroll around the campus buildings and extensive... More

If you are in the area, the Mission Santa Clara de Asis is a great stop. The grounds of the college are very well manicured and the Adobe Lodge has an original wall from the early days. Historians will appreciate this site.

Pretty much all of the 4th graders in California do a social studies project about the California missions. My son is no exception. So, while were were on vacation, we also stopped in as many missions as we could. Since we were in the Bay Area, we decided to stop at the mission in Santa Clara. This mission is very... More

On the campus. Enter mission from the side door. Map outside shows where things are, like an old adobe wall, rose garden. Don't know if they offer tours, was there early.

The campus of University of Santa Clara was built around it, a nice campus stroll behind the mission in springtime. It's very popular for weddings and about as close as California can get to old Europe church ambiance--first CA mission named for a woman (Saint Clare of Assisi) and first college in CA. Enter from Franklin Street for limited off-street... More
