Definitely a must visit. I visit all missions in California if I'm in it's town. So special! Love all of the California Missions! This is one of the best ones to visit!!

We enjoyed the rich history and self guided tour of this mission. The introductory film was very good at providing the history of this site, the only mission in continuous use in the U.S.

dogs cannot enter the mission, it is a functional church. the grounds should be fine if you keep it on the dog collar

It was first built in 1786 but rebuilt after earthqaukes around 1812. It was rebuilt again after an earthquake in 1920.
