We rode up here on the motorcycle, which was a beautiful ride through the hills, with amazing views back to the coast. Highly recommended. The tavern itself is small but cozy, limited parking and limited seats inside. However plenty outside. Even without eating or drinking...More

Cozy and just a delightful place to visit. Totally unexpected on a back road drive. Worth going out of your way to enjoy the special place.

This historic suite gives one the feeling that a stagecoach could pull up at any time. The buffalo burgers are noteworthy and that's what we had. A walk around the grounds to see the out buildings adds to the experience. This is much more than...More

I love to go to the tavern for breakfast or lunch. It's a great one-of-a-kind place with historical character. Food is excellent with huge portions. Dinner is also fine, but not as good as the other meals in my view.

We had a family get together. The waiter let us bring in our own bottle of wine. All 6 meals were very good. I love the charm and coziness. It's a travel back in time.

Although it will take you about 20 minutes to make the drive up the mountains, it's worth it. If you're there for lunch, get the Venison (deer meat) sandwich. Excellent!

This (literally) used to be a stop on the old stagecoach route going through the mountain pass and farther north up the central coast. It appears to be the original building, with rustic, tavern-like decor to match in the various dining rooms. The food is...More

It is a beautiful drive to get here from Santa Barbara. We enjoyed the Tri-tip Sandwiches on a late Sunday afternoon along with delicious onion rings. There was live music and some type of bike rally, so the parking lot and yard were packed, and...More

We enjoyed fine tri tip sandwiches and cold beer while listening to bluesmen Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan on a sunny May day. Note: parking is limited to street-side; arrive early or deal with a long walk.

Even though it is a short distance from Santa Barbara, you really get the feeling that you are far away in the mountains. It is very rustic and there is not a lot of cement outside just very fine dirt. I would leave dogs in... More
