The last thing you expect is a massive pier but it is really massive (high) and a good place for a stroll if the weather is good. We went after a visit to Hearst Castle and had lunch nearby.

Amazing feat to build this pier. It has seen better days and has several gaps in the planking. Typically the wind is so strong one must really button up. Still a great place to go.

Our primary reason to stop was to use the park restrooms. We also walked to the end of the pier, past a few people fishing, and looked at the coastline from a different perspective.

If your in the area you have to stop and take in the view from the end of the pier, both to the ocean and back towards land, A must see.

Nice pier for fishing, walking and people and wildlife viewing. Right next to Coastal Discovery Center.

this place reminds me of australia, seagulls, beach, clear waters, waves, boats hobbing in the distance.. a far cry from the desert heat of highway one.

This pier is basically at the site of the original pier to support Hearst Castle supplies and building materials being shipped in from all over the world. The Discovery Center is also there, as is a long sandy beach. A nice break in your day.
