Visiting on the rainy day before Christmas, there was festival of Christmas in the park, like county fair. There were collections of decorated christmas trees from anywhere. There was also "make a wish " with the Santa. This park was crowded with locals. It's good time for holiday season.

This is where people go to cool off in the fountains, this is where bands have live performances, local races go past it.

Fun park with entertaining musical swings. Yes swing set with lighted seats that play music notes when swinging. 5 different musical instrument sounds. Unique sounds when swings are matched with adjacent swings while moving. Instructions at the swings. Water fountains shoot water up from a flat surface so you can run through it. Next to the fountains are two cornhole... More

Right outside the Fairmont and near a ton of great eateries. There is always something going on at Cesar Chavez Park, such as live music, musical swings, the water fountain for playing and running around, or just enjoying the sites. This is an absolutely wonderful place to check out - any night of the week, and any season.

Lots of people here everyday and they have a lot of fun activities as well. Right now they are doing dance lessons and dancing every Thursday....for free! They also host music festivals. There is a staff that works here and you can rent game equipment, there is a splash park for the kids and musical swings. The swings are really... More

I guess they needed to have some kind of a park in downtown, and this was all that was left. They have a small "Christmas in the Park" each winter....and of course, the "modern" sculpture that is supposed to be an Aztec serpent god, but which most San Joseans refer to as "the pile of poo"!

What a lovely park! They had an installation of musical swings that were fun for young and old. So many fun activities to do and lots of kids enjoying the fountain on a sunny day.

I attended the Major League Soccer All Star Game in July. MLS had family friendly events at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez Park all week. Monday evening they hosted the Flo Rider concert which seemed to be enjoyed by all.

Just passed through Downtown and a live musical event was underway in the park. Very happy place. The fountains are a great place to let children cool off - as long as you don't mind wet children. A "different" Downtown experience.
