This is a large park with some steep hiking trails that is a microcosm of early California, as one of the biggest early industries, it helped accelerate the gold rush

Almaden Quicksilver offers alot of nice hiking and good trail running options if you live in the south bay area. Bring a hat, most of the trails do not offer much shade, also keep in mind that many places in this park lose cell service, even though you are really only a few miles out of town.

Very nice hiking trails. Moderate level trails. Beautiful and serene, even on a busy weekend morning. In South San Jose.

Visit the mine after touring the New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum inside the Casa Grande. It's so well done, informative and hands on. The history of many cultures and peoples is represented here: Ohlone, Chinese, Mexican, and English to name a few. Their history and ours are united by the mercury bearing red rock. Admission is free! Ships from around... More
