Driving up and down is a bit stressful the first time just for the simple fact that its a new drive stule and the people want to fly up and down the mountain. While driving to and from there are many places to pull off and get pictures. I saw tons of state troopers and that made me happy since... More

Whether just driving by the beautiful mountain ranges that dot the diverse landscape in Southern California, or actually divulging in the high mountain culture found in the lovely villages high above, you can't go wrong with this wonderful beloved National Forest. I love that I can see the peaks from various points where I have lived. It's never as much... More

We stopped here on the way from San Diego to Ventura to visit a family member. It was a little out of the way but we're very glad we stopped at Big Falls. Nice little 1/4 mile hike along a dry outwash strewn with boulders til you get to a little stream splashing through the rocks on its way down... More

We love just driving around in the mountains. The air is clean and there are things to do. They sell jerky and have nice restraunts. It does get very busy during the winter when it snows. Go downtown and there are stores to walk around.

For the best scenic drive into the forest without aiming to visit one of the main attractions, you will enjoy the views going east on SR 138. The forest also extends many miles to the west, but you need to get of the road to get the best views in that direction and there's a lot of burned out forest... More

I lived up in the Big Bear Lake area for nearly two decades. The San Bernardino Forest was my playground. There are many areas to hike with many great views. The many campgrounds range from places with hook ups to places a bit farther out. So many activities possible there. I don't live up there anymore, but being nearby, I... More

We stayed there over the weekend, with my boyfriends family and it was amazing. Wonderful campground, and fantastic facilities.

The San Bernardino National Forest is a huge expanse of land and trees and water and mountains that rise into the sky that provide everyone with a couple of hours or a day to just get away from the stresses of modern day life. Just walking down a pine needle covered trail through the forest is enough to make you... More
