I recently visited for the second time. It's a must for a Steinbeck fan, but I'd recommend it to as relevant to all. In addition to having interesting information and artifacts related to Steinbeck's life and novels, it's all placed in the relevant regional, national,...More

I've read some Steinbeck and really wanted to see this museum. My husband is neutral to Steinbeck but still enjoyed. It's laid out in a cute way, themed by book. I did feel the exhibits were a bit fluffy, heavy on film clips and book...More

Well laid out and clearly a tribute to the contribution Steinbeck made to the American persona. Makes me want to revisit his classic works.

Luckily, we came on their 19th anniversary and only had to pay 19 cents. If we'd paid the $12.50, we'd have been angry. There just isn't much to this center. It must be for research? Not much to see-- a few films and a room...More

Amazing display, really great for kids and fans alike. Awesome bookstore. I have been here twice and feel like I never have enough time because it is so amazing.

The reason for visiting Salinas was to get a 'feel' for the country Steinbeck lived in and which he wrote about. It was delightful to discover this centre which so well represented the writer and his work. All exhibits were thoughtfully and very effectively presented....More

If you have even a modest interest in American writers, a must see. You follow the exhibits from his early novels to later life, very entertaining. Lots of insight on Salinas valley, the ag-business in the valley and Monterey. While there, have a walk down...More

If I'd thought about what this museum would be before visiting, it would've been pretty much what it is. That's not a knock--there is a lot to like, whether you're a Steinbeck fan or just want to know more about him. The short movie on...More

I always loved John Steinbeck books and this center brought those books to life. Each area that you walk through depicts another book that makes you feel that you are there, in the moment. Lots of fun and definitely worth a visit for fans

Being born and raised in California, I grew up reading most of Steinbeck's books. Now that hubby and I are seniors and traveling the USA, I wanted a more comprehensive peek into what made him tick. The museum was a wonderful experience and I came...More

I don't believe so. You could call and find out. It is self guided and there are many movie clips so I don't think it would be possible. It's not large enough for a docent tour. Read all of your Steinbeck books before you go!
