Beautifully restored state capital building, great brochure for self-guided tour, safe visit ensured through required scanned entry. Lovely tiled floor, historic paintings, beautiful dome. Go to 3rd floor and work your way down. Go in both galleries, no floor entry.

I recommend that you take a public tour that way you get to see off limit place that you wouldn't otherwise get to see (both chambers). In the walkway they have a shadow box for every county in the state. The governor's off has a...More

I'm a local, and worked at the Capitol and just love the beautiful architecture of this building. The wood and marble are truly something to see.

We did the tour, and would highly recommend it. It is free, informative and a great way to learn about the building and California’s past.
