Riisa Trail

Riisa Trail, Tori: Address, Phone Number, Riisa Trail Reviews: 5/5

About
You will find a sign by the Joesuu-Toramaa Road that invites you on a 5 km hike along the boardwalk in Riisa Fen.The trail starts on the fen and briefly runs through the forest. In places like this, you can see the forest turning into a fen and vice versa – dry ground is replaced by wet land, swamp plants with ancient spruce forests. You can also seem some beautiful swamp pools by the trail. The location of Riisa makes it one of the most popular trails in Soomaa as the road and car park are right by its gates.

Beautiful swamp views and well maintained
Jul 2020
Beautiful trail. Length is approximately 5 kilometres. Fully paved with wooden planks and anti-slip grate. Mix of swamp and forest.

LINC study walk to Riisa trail
Sep 2019 • Friends
Even if it rains it will be a pleasant walk on Riisa trail (Riisa raba rada) at the wooden boardwalk is covered by metal net. Not slippery at all!

There is 1.22 of 4.8 km that can be accessible by the wheelchairs. All 4.8 km of wooden path is covered with steel net preventing from slipping. Humidity of bog and minus air temperatures could have made walking a challenge without the net. Special thanks!

Nice path
Jul 2018 • Family
We like a lot to walk that path around Roosa raba. Nature was so pure and nice! Lots of benches where you can rest and bogs where you can swum!

Magnificent
Jul 2018 • Solo
This is a quick, easy boardwalk stroll through stunning scenery, with a couple of places where you can take a dip in a bog pool (the water - lovely and warm at the surface - is shockingly cold from about a foot down - it's very deep!) and several others where you can just take a seat and look around you, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells. Toilets only at beginning of loop so use before you go.

Good - but not as good as Lahemaa's Viru Bog Trail
Jul 2017 • Family
This is a pretty simple decision - you did not have a chance to visit Lahemaa? Riisa Trail just became a must-see. Otherwise, you will probably find it pretty similar, given that you are visiting in the same season. Main differences? Definitely less visitors, more life - tiny butterflies, lizards, and all but small dragonflies. It seemed less intensive compared to Lahemaa's Viru Bog Trail - there were longer intervals between worthwhile stops.

The Riisa trail forms a loop - we found it very accessible. Please note that, as usual, the best parts are off the "pedestrian highway" - I would definitely recommend against taking a trolley. No surprises when trying to reach it by car - just type Riisa and stop where some cars are parked by the road, the entrance is clearly visible.

Nice, short trail
May 2017 • Couples
It's about 4.8km, easy to walk because of the wooden boards, you won't have more than 80 mins for the round-trail. Very quiet, some parts are in the forest, but most of it is in the open bog.
