About
Estonia's oldest microbrewery located in the island of Saaremaa and famous for the traditional farmhouse style beer. Our notorious cloudy drink has been feeding legends since the 13th century. Unique beer and local island atmosphere can be caught during the summer months in the taproom called Mekituba. Brewery tours are available all year long, but be sure to book in advance to meet the brewmaster himself.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were cycling from Kuressaare to Muhu and passed the brewery in the morning when it was still closed. We just wanted to take a glimpse and continue our journey but the owner saw us and opened the shop for us so we could buy beer and use the bathroom. He even turned the heater on for us (it was cold and raining). Very kind! And the beer is delicious.

Old barn has been transformed to cozy bar to serve beers from small local brewery. It was quite nice experience to go there and try their beers and also hear about their brewery. I heard they serve really good burgers but unfortunately they ran out for the day we were visiting there in the evening.

Thank You for the feedback! Our burgers are famous, but unfortunately we serve them only during one special weekend in July. Definitely working towards serving it whenever the taproom is open.

Located in a small quiet village off an equally quiet road is this beautiful taphouse belonging to Estonia's oldest microbrewery. I can recommend the Dark Pihtla beer, a dark traditional Saaremaa farmhouse beer, the Kolm Venda, an india pale ale and the Okas Kurku, a spruce ale - made with spruce. Their selection is available in a number of pubs in Kuressaare as well as a number of supermarkets on the island.

The staff are welcoming and only too happy to explain about the types of beer available. The taphouse is open during the summer between midday and 6o'c - but when we were leaving quite a few locals were making their way to the bar - so I guess it is a bit of an institution in this rural area. For beer lovers touring the island of Saaremaa it is well worth the visit.
