Definitely bring the family and friends. If you don't see any, they are brown like they look like leaves when they are on the branches hovered together. We found out it's best to see them when it's over 55 degrees. November beginning to mid dec is what they told me is best to see them. There is a telescope to... More

Beautiful! no words to describe this. you have to see this with your own eyes. Graceful monarch butterflies in flight. Careful not to step on one.

We actually went here on Thanksgiving day and we were totally surprised that guides were available to show people around. It's self guided but it was a gorgeous day and so many gorgeous butterflies!!! Definitely look through the telescopes they have set up--it is so amazing. My kids loved walking around the trails and they even saw some groundhogs!

So this has been my favorite butterfky grove for some time, more than Pacifc Grove who is famous for theirs. We saw so many and the docents were so welcoming.

No charge to park or enter. Telescopes to see details of the activity. Beautiful and breathtaking. Walk to beach after.

We brought my daughters who are 10 and 12 to this attraction just because we were in town and didn't have any expectations for it to be so great. There were docents there who shared a TON of information with us about the butterflies AND there were over 15,000 there when we went (in late November) so they were amazing... More

We stopped by in the middle of September but most of the butterflies were gone. We only got to see a couple.

If you've never seen the monarch butterflies as they make their annual migration along the West Coast of the United States, you'll be amazed! State park rangers and volunteers were out to answer questions (very friendly and informative) and also had telescopes set up for visitors to see the butterflies in the eucalyptus trees. We came by late October to... More

We stopped by here on a day off. It's definitely a nice spot to take a look at the butterflies. They are awesome. I love the eucalypts also. But it can be a fairly quick visit. I wouldn't call it a major attraction.

Went November 19 and it was 65°F. Most butterflies were hanging on to the tree leaves, and many were flying around! A nice stop on the drive to/from the dunes.
