Just went into Ruddy's General Store. This is a great place to take kids that have no clue what it was like in the 1930's. There are over 6000 items that have never been open and in their original packaging. You just need to take some time and explain what some things are, because children today have never seen stuff... A must see if in the area. We hit this part of town about 10 am and found parking on the street within a block of the museum. Greeted by a wonderful lady that filled us in on the background of the museum, and Jim Ruddy. While it is a small place it is filled to the rafters with items... More

This small museum may take you back to yesteryear to glimpse at how things used to be when times were simpler - at least product wise. Life may not have been easier than today, but nonetheless it is interesting to see what products looked like in their earlier days. Here's your chance. It may be a special treat for collectors... Me and three friends visited after I insisted we go as I run a little general store of my own. The woman working at the counter had a great sense of humor & knowledge of the shop/it's history and even stories of special visitors. This is a gem of a museum and while small, I wouldn't have it any other... More

We visited Ruddy's while visiting the Palm Springs History Museum. The Curator was very nice and informative. The items were well displayed. A great education and remembrances of the history of the "general store." Excellent!

Rudy's is tucked in between the Palm Springs Museum and the Indian Museum. Rudy's in the only on that charges an admission. The other two have donation requests. Seems like Rudy's would get more visitors if it also requested donations. The store is filled with memorabilia from the last centure.

Just like walking into a general store way back when. It was fun looking at items on the shelf that you had long forgotten about and reminiscing about them.

This is an over-stuffed store, full of vintage products. Definitely a personal interest attraction, not for everybody.

Walking down Palm Spring's main drag, we found ourselves at this cute collection of old time general store items. The collection is interesting and worth spending some time enjoying. There is a small fee for entrance. Best part of it all was chatting with the lovely, engaging, young woman (celebrating a birthday that was 80 years ago that very day... More

Ruddy's is owned and operated by a very friendly lady. The place is very unique and worth the 95 cents entrance fee. It has hundreds of items that you simply say "aw - I remember that". It is fun to jog the memory with all the nostalgia.
