We've meant to visit this attraction on prior visits but never got there. It is well organized, decently priced, has great views, lots of trails for people (you need to be mobile) of different lengths and levels. Five 'notches' on the Desert View trail allow...More
We took the tram to top of the mountain on the last day of the Thanksgiving long weekend. We arrived around 11:30 am and took the bus to the main building. Surprisingly there was no line and we got on the tram with little wait...More
We came up the mountain by tram and mostly came to enjoy the views and not do any strenuous hiking. We stayed on the mountain for an hour or so. Also there were some fires in the area at the time of our visit, so...More
Take the early tram from Palm Springs and get to the top of the mountain by noon. Beautiful hike high above the desert with stunning views of the surrounding area from above. The hike itself is challenging but well worth it at the top. The...More
It's so peacefully at the top of Mount San Jacinto, the air is fresh and cool, it's definitely worth the trip up on the tramway.
There's trails to follow, we took the Desert View trail which is about 1.5 miles and takes you to 5...More
We took the tram up to the top which was a little unnerving at first but I got used to it. It only takes 12 minutes and then you have the bird's eye view of the area. I'm happy we were there when it wasn't...More
Everything has been said about this attraction. I can only add that it took me years to finally conquer my fear of heights and it was so worth it. It is a very unique experience to hike one of the trails up there (The Desert...More
I came here with my family for a weekend vacation. I loved being able to have such a great view from above without having to hike an entire mountain. Don't get me wrong, just being up so high got me out of breath, and the...More
The tram to the top of San Jacinto is an engineering marvel leading to stunning views and beautiful, easily walked short alpine hikes at the mountain top. The somewhat limited menu at the cafe at the top wasn't unreasonably priced and there is a bar...More

First one is the trail "Cactus to clouds" - starts right form Palm Springs Museum of art parking lot. This trail is long and steep, 16 miles one way to summit, first ~8 miles are the steepest, till you reach the ranger station after that is much easier.. Hiking on this trail usually starts at night time due to very hot conditions during the day - no shade till you get to ranger station.
If you check on Google this trail, you will find a lot of usefull and detailed info.
There is another hiking trail to summit from Mt Sant Jacinto State park, it is about one hour drive from Palm Springs to get to that trail, park locate on the opposite site of the mountain from Palm Springs, this trail is not so long and not so steep compare to "Cactus to clouds" trail.
