San Jacinto Mountain is a nice tourist destination, particularly for a short day hike in the woods when it is very hot in Palm Springs.

Since my first sight and hike up to the peak of San Jacinto fifteen years ago, I have been intrigued and beguiled by the natural beauty of San Jaciinto. I have visited the mountain via the revolving Palm Springs Aerial Tramway many times by myself and with family members. I have hiked up to the 8,516 foot peak twice on... More

The Tramway located near the Visitors Center in Palm Springs is a great way to spend the day and not to mention the spectacular view of the Palm Springs area. Purchase tickets in advance and plan to spend at least 5 to 6 hours exploring/relaxing and dining.

The Palm Springs aerial tram cradles you slowly up from the desert floor ( look up San Jacinto mountain temps before going , dress accordingly ) you start to feel compelled to open your mouth and say ' oh wow ' ! The oxygen is so wondrous and pure , hiking if that's for you, is Incredible.....if there is still... More

On the recommendation of a friend, we put the Palm Springs Aerial Tram on our must-do list, which takes you the 2.5 miles up San Jacinto. This was Day One of our long weekend in PS and it was such a great start to the trip. I would recommend scheduling around this activity as your primary activity for the day.... More

Great for hiking, great to get out of the heat, great just to show up and show everybody that you can do the six hour hike up and down.

The sights are amazing do not miss out. We visited over the holiday weekend. I really enjoyed the view of the palm springs. I would dress in layers it was amazing that the temperature could change a lot by your location on the mountain. Make sure you bring a camera the photo opportunities should not be missed.

We took advantage of the tram to the top but... when we went to get our tickets early in the morning we witnessed many people walking the paved path to the tram parking station. It is quite an incline, but the path is paved and off the road, peaceful and the view is breathtaking.

The tram ride up the mountain is a little un-nerving, but the view is unbelievable. It is awesome to shoot up 5000 ft and look at how different to terrain is from Palm Springs. It has a snackish station on top and a full restaurant and bar. The food was really good.
