We picked this as the number one event that we wanted to take as part of the Modernism Festival. We weren't disappointed. We arrived at our scheduled pick up time... received our info package... and started our walk around the neighborhood to the 9 homes that were on the tour. It was like a step back into the mid-century as... More

This is the quintessential PS neighborhood. Filled with genuine midcentury "butterfly" and "Swiss Miss" homes. Great door colors, swanky rockery and sweeping rooflines abound. And all have exceptionally well-manicured grounds punctuated with cacti and palms. A great free activity for exercise and photo ops.

With a magnificent backdrop of red granite mountains and Palm trees this is an area definitely worth a look at. Although it is not the best style of architecture it is a step back in time. We just drove around the streets.

We lived at 733 Camino Del Sur from 1955 until 1970. Mom sold the house to Chuck Connors (the Rifleman) and we moved to Laguna Beach. The neighborhood was amazing with neighbors like Dean Martin, Tony Martin, Elvis Presley ( who bought the home from the Alexander family after they died in a Lear Jet crash) and many more! What... Las Palmas area is full of wonderful estates of movie stars from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Beautiful landscaping and houses. Lovely walk.

All you can see is walls, fences, gates, hedges, security company signs, deserted streets, not even parked cars, this place is like a graveyard...

Take a stroll through Old Las Palmas to a bygone era when Hollywood Royalty flocked to Palm Springs to frolic and play without the oversight of the movie studios. Then go west, to Vista Las Palmas - playground the rat pack in their mid century modern homes.

Basically whether in the car or on foot, just go and get lost window shopping for houses on this estate. Leading unto to Elvis' honeymoon suit along Cam Sur you will find some achingly hip houses that'll make you go running back to your boss asking for a pay rise. Do respect the owners though as these are all residential... More

I always take visitors around this neighborhood for many reasons. This is where Elvis, Fran Sinatra and many of the old stars all had homes. New ones are rediscovering it and moving there now, like Leonardo Di-DiCaprio. Worth a drive around and look for sure.

If you want to see an entire neighborhood with restored, renewed and rebuilt Mid-Century modern homes, then take a trip to the Las Palmas neighborhood in Palm Springs! The homes are fab, the colors are total eye-candy. You won't know which house to look at first. Since it is not gated, you can bike it, walk it or drive it.... More
