The park has a playground, basketball hoop and a coffee bar where you can have breakfast fare and a bite to eat. It is open from 8-noon. Across from the park is a beach where you can sit on a bench or sit on the beach. Very picturesque and relaxing!

I walked from Buccaneer Beach to the other side of Oceanside Pier with my dog this morning. I initially worried about finding water for him and was delighted that along the 3.6 mile walk there were restrooms (3) and st least 3 doggie water bowls along with doggie poo receptacles with plastic baggies. I took pictures of the ocean view along the way. Definitely dog friendly! However, dogs are not permitted on the beach! If you want a dog beach Google Del Mar Dog Beach.

The playground is well maintained; and, while we were there, a replenishment program was underway to add more material to the tot's play area. The picnic tables are protected and shaded by gazebo structures, and the open grassy area borders the ecologcal preserve.

I get my water bill and there is a nice picture of the creek alongside the park, but in reality, zoom out a bit and there are homeless camps with trash everywhere, even in the creek. The park side has homeless passed out on the grass, dumped trash cans and don't walk down the path at night! I call OPD constantly and the camp might go away for a bit, but then is right back, full of trash, tarps and bike parts.

Sewage smell, very little sand left and tons of holes in the water/surf. Not so great for kids who want to use the beach. Ok park with a few sketchy characters and the algae filled sewer creek that abuts the park does not add the ambiance you want when you picnic or eat at the cafe. Sadly no longer my favorite childhood beach
