As of January, 2020, the construction for a new hotel complex is well underway. Local business people tell us that this historic Queen Anne structure is sitting in limbo in a hotel parking lot near by. Its reincarnation will most likely be as a small store to sell treats and ice cream. We will all just have to wait and see how that all turns out. In the meantime, O'side continues along at a breakneck pace to reinvent itself as an upscale place to live and (presumably) to work. Look for all this activity in the proximity of the pier.

This iconic house has been seen by a lot of Tom’s followers. For years when we go to Oceanside it’s a have to revisit site wondering when they might restore it. This June we sadly discovered “It’s GONE”. The entire block is being developed into hotels. Hallelujah .... on a morning walk this September we discovered the house tucked away in the neighborhood. We sense found out the plan is to bring it back to its original area. So the clock of time comes back around. It’s been give an excellent because it’s being preserved.

This movie icon has been moved to the side of the Springhill Hill Suites hotel. You can see it through the fence for now as they plan to resort the house over the next few months. Remember trespassing is bad - wether you are a super fan or not! :) We peaked through the opening in the fence and had a clear view of the home (in it’s current state of disrepair.) We are fellow travelers and have always appreciated when people write reviews about their experiences so we can make informed decisions on what we should do while traveling. This adorable cottage was Charlie's cottage in the movie, "Top Gun" and is a favorite among both locals and visitors. It has temporarily moved to the parking lot just south of SpringHill Suites to undergo some renovations and then it will be moved to the Northwest corner of Pacific and Pier View as part of the new resort that's under construction.
