This is a beautifully restored area of Oakland, not far from Jack London Square and the Civic Center. It is also fairly close to Lake Merritt and the Oakland Museum of California.

A small area highlighted by some good historic preservation. Pedestrian. Some good restaurants, mostly informal. A small market. The farmer's market, Fridays I think, is very popular. But don't go out of your way to visit.

Great bars, cool stores, and hip restaurants. I was very happy to be staying near this area during a conference. The Italian restaurant, Desco, was probable my favorite!
