We had a wonderful time apple picking this year. Although, picking apples can cost a small fortune we had a great time. We also enjoyed all the activities such as candle making and tomahawk throwing. We came very early and I am glad we did because it was so crowded by the time we left. There were protocols for Covid while doing the activities and there was enough space to pick apples away from other people. All employees wore masks. It felt nice to be out and doing something fun and normal during these uncertain times.

The family took a drive up today and sadly we found Los Rios has burned down. Not from the recent fires. I don’t know the story but seems the south property structure where the store, bakery and BBQ are gone. The U-Pick on the north side was open. How they rebuild. It’s one of our favorites in Oak Glen.

This was nice place for eating. We could sit on wooden chairs. The corn stand was attractive. Everyone were nice. Worthwhile to see!

Riley's host a Vintage Valentine's Day Dinner Dance every year , complete with big band music and swing dance lessons. They clear out their market barn and decorate it beautifully with burgundy tablecloths and valentine's decor. The band, Persuasion was fantastic playing romantic Big Band tunes while you dine, they are more then a band like an orchestra. They had ice cold cider, water and lemonade and hot coffee on the porch and a bar as well, hard cider too! Food could be improved, homemade biscuits on the porch were cold and hard, it was a chilly night and warm biscuits would have been awesome. The soup was the best part of the meal, it was great, carrots and other veggies, pasta and light broth, loved the soup. Dinner was chicken marsala, mine wasn't great, hard and dry, so I just left it, but my hubby's was fine, the pasta and sauce was yummy, the roasted veggies were not so great either, hard and dark too oily. so I ate some, left most of them. The roll with dinner was hard tried to soften it with butter, didn't work, had to leave it. Dessert was a strawberry mousse, that was yummy! They did a swing dance demonstration and gave lessons to everyone, this was really fun, and then we got to dance after that..so that was lots of fun, and then we took a horsedrawn carriage ride. Which was also fun and we had two really nice young women leading the horses and they stopped and took photos..beautiful clear starry night in the mountains. Very romantic.. Price was reasonable compared to where we lived but it took us one and a half hours to get there and over an hour to get home..so even though I enjoyed it..too far to go but if you are closer go..and enjoy with your special someone.!

Had a great day with grand-daughters, ages 6 and 11. The older loved the apple picking, the younger all of the animals. In addition, great food!
