Oak Glen Preserve at Oak Glen is great for dogs. Dogs have no problems to go. However, they run to the Oak Glen Preserve and they run for fun! There are lots of trees and they have fun as well. They are really happy!

Nice trails for the kids and dog with great weather year round. Parking during apple-picking season and when it snows a bit difficult.

Planned on spending two days here, but after one day there was nothing else to do. It's apples, apples, apples. Stores, a few shops, and a few restaurants.

Our 5th stop: after feeding the goats at Los Rios, we took the preserve trail in reverse as my daughter told me it is not as steep. Mostly shaded trail, see many wood peckers. Found a huge blackberry patch and boy were they good! Continued up a slight hill, at one point there are 'stairs' leading down. Small creek as well as educational points along the way. The 4 year old sister of my daughter's friend was able to do it, so anyone can! We finished with lunch at Rileys.

We took a day trip from Los Angeles to Oak Glen and this was one of the planned stops. On our trip, we wanted to keep the budget in mind. This stop was the highlight of our day. For those in the planning stages, please note that (Rileys at) Los Rios Rancho is at the same location. There are two entrances for Los Rios Rancho, one on the left and one farther down the road (not much) on the right. The preserve is on the right and then again, on the right but you will park at Los Rios Rancho. If you are making a day of Oak Glen there is a large grass area to play and picnic at Los Rios Rancho or there are tables and shaded areas in the preserve. There are a variety of hikes through the preserve, for all levels. It's really a beautiful place. Take your camera and preserve the memory with beautiful photos, but please, please, please follow the outdoor code and leave the place better than you found it and don't take things (acorns, etc) from the preserve. We share this natural space with wildlife and the natural cycle they are working to preserve. There is one exception, there is a u-pick grove in the preserve where you can pick and buy apples. Going in season, on a Sunday brings the challenges of parking. This location has an overflow lot and a crew of parking professionals helping out.
