Anytime someone mentions the Aerospace Museum of California you automatically think of aviation, space exploration, flight simulators and static displays of retired military and commercial aircraft in all shapes and sizes. This relatively new location (moved from it's previous headquarters across the airfield) exudes an air of sophistication on par with any major aviation/space exploration museum in the USA. Simply... This museum was easy to find, easy to access, and had great exhibits for the aircraft enthusiast. There are several samples of aircraft and rocket engines, some space exploration stuff, and currently an interactive exhibit on the machines of DaVinci. I particularly enjoyed the aircraft on display outside, several military and civilian aircraft can be climbed on and in. There... More

We had a hard time locating this place, but boy was it worth the effort! The Da Vinci machines exhibit was hands on and exciting to see! My 14 year old spent several hours working pulleys, cogs and wheels, checking out the tank, flying contraptions. Oh it was just wonderful! We saw space suites, learned about all kinds of air... Cuuently there is a limited time DaVinci exhibit, which is totally awesome. Wonderful docent who talked and walked with us. Ventured out side to see the FedEx plane and Walt came and gave us two ladies a fantastic tour. Both docents talked in a manner of which we could understand- not overly technical or beneath us. Would return and spend... More

It's the Wandering Yank here. I love airplane museums, and I was last here 10 years ago at their old location. The new building is much bigger and more spacious. It's a very large and spacious room. There are a number of small aircraft and missiles hanging from the ceiling. A beautifully restored F-86 Sabre was the highlight for me.... More

This museum has many varied exhibits and video displays with aircraft seating in front of them. I found this to be rare. Outside has many of my favorite planes, mainly the A-10 Thunderbolt. You can go inside several aircraft even a helicopter!

My daughter had a conference in McClellan and I had the day to explore. I decided to walk to the museum and check it out. Outside is an amazing playground area that small children would love. It had so many structures and was so clean and attractive, i wished I had my little granddaughter with me. Inside a school group... More

The admission was inexpensive, you could climb in to about 4 of the planes inside the museum, there were many that were not touch. They did have some interesting information on the space program and the missions to mars, including some rockets and many planes. There were many planes outside of the museum, but it was raining and we didn't... More

The museum is at the former Mcclellan air base, which now hosts a unit of the US Coast Guard. This reflected in the displayed aircraft with a number of USCG. The oldest aircraft is a C-47 transport plane. Lots of Cold War fighter aircraft are on display outdoors. Inside aviation paraphernalia and explanations on many aviation are explained. Volunteers are... More

We went with our son, daughter-in-law, grandson (6), and granddaughter (3). They had a good time. There were enough things to see and do even for the 3 year old. Of course, they loved the aircraft and being able to go into some of them. The docents were always nearby to give us facts, figures, and history. I cannot compliment... More
