This is a very inexpensive thing to enjoy while in Newport Beach by car, bike, walking with great destinations at both ends of the ride.

Took the ferry to Balboa; quick ride with great views; ferryman provided good options for lunch; best to park in neighborhoods and just ride the ferry - it only holds 3 cars

For less than five bucks you can bring your family on a ferry ride across the bay. The ferry only holds three cars at a time, so there may be a short wait but the ride is fairly quick, under 10 minutes. Kids loved it....More

I lived on Balboa Island for years and the Ferry was always an inexpensive treat and something I'd take visitors to experience all the time. Do it!

Ruff life for the dog on the ferry. I think it was only $1.25 per person. Not sure how much it cost for a car to cross.

Agreed! The weekdays are not as crowded. Keep in mind it's not a long wait in general. I recommend walking on or taking a bike. Sometimes with a car you can get stuck in a line so that may take you longer!
