Home of well preserved historical art/artifacts from during the California Gold Rush time, local city history of citizens. Visitors can time travel by learning about the facts behind each displays, learn about the Chinese alters, Native American Indian bead work, etc...

The museum is interesting, especially the information and artifacts regarding the Chinese history. But it is smaller and less informative than I would have expected for a city with a rich history. The best part of the visit was listening to Anabelle, the sweet, elderly, Scandanavian volunteer docent, who was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Interesting tour of the local railroad history and how it was part of the local gold rush in the 1800's. Would be more fun for someone interested in old trains and their reconstruction. Some of the old trains on view were used in Hollywood movies. Knowledgeable tour guides and a short train ride is available.

Ive been in here several times and you can always catch a erie feel as you see all the neat old things. There are very rare things to be seen in there indeed and though it doesn't take long due to it being small,it has a ton of good history and art info to offer people.

The docent has a lot of knowledge to share about the items in the museum, and about the area's history. Be sure to ask her questions :)

An eclectic collection encompassing Indian, Chinese, The Donner Party, and other settlers' relics. And, be sure you save some time to chat with the museum volunteer for additional colorful tales of local characters and history.

This is a small museum with local artefacts. It was really made by the docent who was full of stories and showed real interest in the museum and his hometown. He had been in the Air Force and spent a long time talking about his career to my teenage son who is interested in planes and in the Air Cadets... More
