The caves were phenomenal as were the barrel tasting s. Comparing the French oak barrels to the American oak barrels was quite the experience. The tasting was quite generous and our tour guide extremely knowledgeable. The ines were big and bold but a little too sweet for my palette.

Great tour of an authentic wine cave with plenty of opportunities for barrel tasting. Wines were very good, particularly cabernet sauvignon. Tour provided lots of information.

Our group of 10 made an appointment in advance to visit the caves and do the wine tasting. The positives: a unique tasting experience inside the caves -- all tastings were from the barrels. One of the most impressive tastings was the same "juice" aged in American oak in one barrel and French in the other. Wow, what a difference!!... More

On a more serious note, my business partner referred me to Del Dotto having been there himself and it was a "spot-on" recommendation! The wine caves dug out in 1885, were extremely cool and our guide Steve Hare who wielded the "wine thief," was outstanding! A group of seven of us went through the full cave network sampling quite a... More

Our group did a barrel tasting tour in the caves. We sampled side-by-side wines that had been made with the same grape juice, but aged in different barrels. It was amazing what a difference it made in the taste of the wine! Very generous pours, and I don't even remember how many wines we sampled. Not just cabernet sauvignon -... More

I'm a bit late adding this review. Had an INCREDIBLE time here at the Napa location back on New Year's Eve. Tour guide was Analise and she was A+++++. While the wine tour is certainly not cheap, it ended up being exceptional value as we tasted more than 10 wines, many of extremely high quality, followed by some pizza and... More

Light on education and formality, heavy on the fun and pouring. Lots of samples - easy to sip the day away. The caves are pretty cool, but don't expect anything super classy.

Underground in Napa Valley's second oldest tunnels hand dug in 1885, our guide and wine thief, Todd, entertained us with stories, as he allowed us to compare wine, aging side-by-side in French and American oak barrels. We also tasted wine aging in wood sourced from different forests, toasted differently. We sampled really good wines, that I have never seen sold... More

It is a very pretty place inside but found it to feel "stuffy". The wine tasting was expensive but they did provide a nice cheese tray. Our wine educator was very friendly.

We were in San Francisco for a few days and didn't have time for the full 'Wine Country Experience' this time, so we chose Del Dotto in Napa for it's location and barrel tasting. The Napa location is not a 'destination vineyard' but once inside, our guide was knowledgeable and a lot of fun without being overeager to sell. The... More
