For years, Bill Foley and his wife Carol Johnson Foley had the desire to open a winery bearing their name in Napa Valley. In addition to appreciating the grandeur of Napa's scenery and the rhythm of its lifestyle, the couple has always enjoyed the opulence and complexity of its wines. With the launch of Foley Johnson in 2012, the Foleys have created a world-class winery with premier vineyards and a historic tasting room right in the heart of America's preeminent winegrowing region.Located along Highway 29 in the prestigious Rutherford AVA, Foley Johnson exemplifies the understated elegance and casual warmth of the Valley. The winery, previously Sawyer Cellars, produces two tiers of wine: Napa Valley and Handmade. The Napa Valley tier focuses on Bordeaux varieties from the nearly 50 acres of estate vineyards around the winery in Rutherford. The Handmade tier features special small-lot bottlings from some of the renowned winemakers in the Foley Family Wines group.

Great customer service!

We stopped there, bought wine, served it last night to guests (Zinfandel ). It was a huge hit. Guests wanted to know where the winery is located. We told them. A find for us!

I am so disappointed that the folks that purchased Sawyer Cellars changed their name. In fact on my last visit right after the acquisition I was assured by our host that the winery would always remain Sawyer Cellars. I guess he was not being truthful since this was just a few months ago. The name was what attracted us to... More

With an overwhelming number of wineries to visit in Napa & Sonoma we chose this nice small one in St Helena. The curiosity was driven by the name -- a family name. The wine is great and more than honors the family name. Candace was a knowledgable and delightful host during our tasting. We were informed that the winery will... More

Friends recommended Sawyer. It was appointment only, but we just called from the road and made a last minute appointment. It was a nice relaxed visit.

So the only reason we stopped by here is this is my last name. So we went in to see my new favorite rich uncle, I wish. Very nice people and the owner was there tasting with another couple. Small compared to some of the places around there but we had a nice time.

We had a detailed plan for a week of wine tasting. Things were scheduled and we were ready to go. Our B&B had a wine tasting each evening for the guests and one evening a group said they visited Sawyer Cellars and had a great experience. Since we were visiting Cakebread the next day, and Sawyer was right next door,... More

Made an appointment for a tasting - wonderfully accommodating; we didn't have to wait at all. Every wine we tasted was delicious, and they even threw in a few extras that were even better. One of the most friendly and definitely the most reasonable vineyards in Napa.

What a great winery with some awesome wines. This was our second trip to Napa and we couldn't leave without a return trip to Sawyer. Unfortunately, Charlie Sawyer, the owner was not around this visit, but we enjoyed it all the same. Great wines! Love the Bradford Meritage! Joined the wine club this time around to make sure we keep... More

Stopped for a tasting at this little winery June 8th. Great personal attention and fantastic wine. With so many wineries on this main drag it seems Sawyer gets overlooked. Good for anyone who happens to make it there - no crowds, personal attention and some great grape!
