After a visit to Tenaja Falls, the drive back led us through the Santa Rosa Ecological Reserve, known simply as "The Plateau" to locals. There is more than adequate parking. There are self-guided tours through the plateau on numerous paths and trails. There are pools and ponds in wetter times - but if you go during the summer, BRING PLENTY... More

The Santa Rosa plateau is beautiful most any time of year. Rolling hills, historical buildings (an old ranch you can explore), multi terrain trails and great vistas all combine to make this an interesting hiking experience. There are heavy fines for picking endangered flower species so go up with the intent to bring NOTHING back but photos. There are plenty... More

Santa Rosa plateau is beautiful. There are some jaw dropping trails on the plateau and some rare plants. This is a great place to hike regularly provided you take water. There are cougars and coyotes on the plateau so it would be wise not to go alone. That being said, there are plenty of solo joggers braving the hills alone.... More

Easy, fun hikes. Mountain bike trails. Beautiful area. Can get cold in winter evenings and hot during summer days. Plan accordingly. Great for families and pets to explore the outdoors.

My family has been hiking the Santa Rosa trails for years. We hike, bike and run the trails. Recently I took my son and his friend to the Visitor Center loop so they could take photos for their photography class. What a beautiful day.

A most beautiful place. Take the children but stay in groups as there are wild critters up here including bobcats, coyotes, snakes and even cougars, but they are rarely seen during the day. There is a large vernal pool that forms after a rain, hike can be a bit long for the elderly.

What a great thing we have so close to town.... go hike with fantastic views....maybe see some wildlife. Mountain biking and horses on one side hikers on the other. See the historic adobes and the vernal pools. What a great day out!

Our 3rd grader go here every year but this last month was my first visit. I so enjoyed the beautiful views and a chance to enjoy a quiet walk in nature. A great destination for my scout pack and anyone wanting to enjoy nature. They even offer a summer concert series. Who knew? They had a great art display inside... More
