Great Lunch Stop after Muir Woods

What a great view! We stopped around lunch mid-week at the end of September. The weather was perfect with not too much wind. We eat lunch at one of the picnic tables and were able to make use of the toilets before we left.

When you're already visiting Muir Woods it seems crazy not to stop here either before or after.

Great perspective view of the ocean

This is an awesome stop with a great perspective view of the ocean. It is a cool staircase which is easily accessible. We were little taking pictures of us jumping for joy at this spot. Really cool and highly recommend!

Muri overlook

Muir Beach overlook is one of the attractions and it is situated in the north of San Francisco. Tourists can have nice view and Pacific Ocean is on the western side and the spot is on the top of the mountain. Parking and rest room facilities are there.

BREATHTAKING!

Love, love, love this coastal hike. Upon arrival, parking is easy. At the lot, there are two overlooks; and trailhead to Slide Ranch. 1 mile easy hike to the ranch which has goats; chickens, fennel garden; picnic tables; and 7 glamping tent rentals overlooking the ocean, and they actually have beds inside the tents. From the ranch there's a short trail to the tide pools, where we sat on the rocks watching the waves crash. It was a spectacular site! This is truly an amazing beautiful coastal hike!. Pacific Ocean views are absolutely breathtaking!! A MUST SEE!! An easy short hike for all ages.

What's to not like beautiful views here

Great short stop worth seeing, Views of Muir Beach to south and in distance Point reyes and Stinson beach areas in the north. But, everywhere beatific views of the ocean and bonus a few historic areas from WW2 where soldiers watched the coastline in case of enemy encroachment.

Memorable stop!

Of all the places we visited in Hwy 1, this overlook was very memorable. My young boys loved walking along the ridge of the mountain and the views from the overlook were spectacular. There are also some old war lookouts that my boys enjoyed climbing in and out of. Loved this little stop!

The overlook is worth the drive, just outside S.F. especially if in the area. There a lots of curve and uphill to get there beautiful greenery on the road.

Gorgeous View of the Ocean

We had a long drive through Marin County and I barely survived my motion sickness, but I was rewarded with glorious views of the sea such as those from this outlook. On Highway 1 heading North.

Breathtaking

We went just a few days ago. Driving up into the mountain, into the clouds was beautiful and eery at the same time. The overlook is beautiful just from the parking level, but there is a nice pathway that can be taken. I was toooooooo cold. But, my daughter did it!

Great coastal views

We stopped here after seeing the Muir Woods and drove to the beach. Small parking lot to park in and then walk out to a great overlook on a short trial out to the point to see the coastal views.

There are also some bunkers where the military guarded the entrance to SF Bay during the war ; these “batteries “ are located all over the coastal areas and around the Marin Headlands.

Also a nice bathroom that was open and picnic benches.
