Voted "One of the top 100 things to do with kids before they grow up". While smaller than your typical zoo, kids are entranced by close-up interactions with the animals, their habitats, and behaviors. Located on the Moorpark College campus on 5 acres with over 150 animals. The zoo is run by students participating in the EATM program who are eager to share their knowledge of and affection for the animals.Open to the public Saturday's and Sunday's from 11AM-5PM. Wildlife education shows with live animals are offered at 12:00 and 2:00. At 3:30 the public can witness a carnivore feeding. The feeding could involve anything from an ocelot, mountain lion, hyena, alligator, or lioness and is accompanied by a discussion about the animal's diet and its behavior in the wild.

Our son and his wife wanted to take their 3 -year-old here for a weekend (Sunday afternoon) jaunt, and my wife & I said "Sure!" we'd come along. The zoo as a "ZOO" is not all that impressive, but, after all, it's the college's "teaching zoo." The students do, however, put on a really nice "get acquainted with different animals"... More

We went to the teaching zoo as part of a birthday celebration four our god children. It was really well-organized and fun. The students running the show were great, informative and interesting. The kids loved it! There was an area set up with tables for the food/ gifts. Not super expensive.

Don't come here expecting a traditional commercial zoo. It is a training facility and facilities and enclosures are fairly basic which can add to the appeal though some of the animals could do with larger enclosures. In saying that you get the impression the young trainees and staff give the animals lots of attention and stimulous and many get taken... More

My wife's cousin lived down the street from this amazing zoo when my kids were young and we went on average twice a year for a many years. It has only gotten better over time. It is a deeply cool animal experience. This is a teaching institution as a part of Moorpark College. There are students of animal behavior working... More

Here is an opportunity for the Whole Family, Couples on a Date, or if you want to go by yourself on a Lunch Break. It is a great way to Relax and have a good time. Just Don't FEED the Animals. The Zoo is on the west part of the Campus.

GREAT place. It's on the pricey side, but it's usually offering a deal of some sort, so it's worth it. AND it's non profit so you can feel good about going there and helping out. No frills, but the shows are great and the trainers love the animals- that's easy to see.

what an unusual place; a zoo where the staff are learning to be zoo keepers; not a lot of animals but that is reflected in the admission cost; very knowledgeable staff cant do eneough to encourage younsters to experience the animals. Our biggest memory will be our 2 year old granddaughter petting the black faced dheep on a tether with... More
