In Cannery Row, right at Steinbeck Plaza!, you will be greeted by a bust of American author, John Steinbeck. The author known for “Of Mice and Men”, “East of Eden” and “The Grapes of Wrath” had written “Cannery Row” in 1945. The novel gives a...More

Nine individuals who had a part to play in Monterey's history and helped shaped the town into what we see today are depicted in this monument. There's John Steinbeck, the winner of the Nobel Prize for literature - he's the one highest on the mound,...More

Do take advantage of the coastal path that runs from Pacific Grove, through Monterey and into Seaside. It is a great outdoors way to see the tourist stuff without shopping for spoons and thimbles (do they still sell that stuff). Bike and Surrey rentals can...More

A nice monument along cannery row, well worth stopping for a photo. Was quite busy when we arrived but a cruise ship had just come in.

A new addition. Very few sculptures move me but this one did (even with the bird material on it). This some very beautiful sculptures put on a rock to tell a story. The sculptures are very life like. The expression fit what they are trying...More

A monument to the history of Cannery Row and really John Steinbeck. Worth checking out if wandering the Row or a big Steinbeck fan. I would not have sought it out otherwise.

Doc , Mack and the boys are given a ramshackle joie de vivre in this high spirited tribute to John Steinbeck - it is uninhibited , bawdy , compassionate just like the book. Good job. Look for the frogs.

Great statue, brings the history of the area to life! Each character tells a story, and is outlined in an informational plaque that's worth a 10-minute stop to read/enjoy.

This monument epitomises the very hard Life endured by the characters in his novel "Cannery Row". Nice place to sit and take a breather!

Great spot in town to watch people, take photos, grab a bite, watch the sunset. Busy on weekends but still fun.

There's parking in the adjacent streets, metered, as well as a few blocks away for free, the latter also more easily available as it involves a few minutes' walking.
