We had dinner at Fisherman Whaft. The restaurants will entice you with feee clam chowder on the street and offer free appetisers if you dine in. We had the best sample of clam chowder from Jimmys Crabs, however was a little dissappinted with our main meal....More

Several little shops, good chowder, salt water taffy galore. We like to head to the end to watch the seals and sea lions, if you walk off the 'main drag' to where the piano is played in the evening you are likely to see harbor...More

Old Fisherman's wharf in Monterey is as touristy as the famous Pier 39 in San Francisco, without all the crowds. If you are travelling through and want to hit some of the most historic locations, this one is a good bet. Monterey was the first...More

This is a short pier with the expected gift shops, candy shops and over priced restaurants. The food we had was okay and very expensive for what we got. There's just not a lot to do other than walk up and down. Except, if you...More

If you expect to see fishing boats and fishermen don't come here. The wharf is a long mall of tourist shops and restaurants. The one marine activity is buying tickets for boat trips for whale watching and such.

My friend had told me about a restaurant on this Wharf called Lulu's so when we went to Monterey it was on our list for lunch. It surprised me how small it was....about four tables outside and a few booths indoors. Since the windows when...More

I liked this wharf much more than the SF one. It's much smaller and somehow feels less of a tourist trap, even it is one. The restaurants seem smaller, the attractions seems smaller, but all in a good, homey way. We had a great lunch...More

We took an Uber to the Monterey Fishema's Wharf and it was quite a find. It was packed on a Wednesday and had an electric atmosphere. It was more exciting than the San Francisco version since it is more compact.

Go hungry there are a number of good restaurants to choose from. If nothing else, you can always do the chowder crawl of samples up one side and down the other of the pier. It's actually surprising the range of chowder flavor profiles. Most restaurants...More

This is a dense area. In high season (roughly May through October) it's over-run with tourists and can be difficult to navigate on foot. I imagine a wheelchair adds an extra layer of difficulty with that. The boardwalk is... More

They open around 9 or ten, but not really sure our first stop was the aquarium, that morning, breakfast shops open early, but once open lots to see and buy.
