It really does not matter where you begin on the Path of History. Be sure you have plenty of time. At least one day is good, more is better!

Lots of history in one area. Very easy access and great to stroll around on a nice day. Makes for great photo ops.

We spent an enjoyable day following the sidewalk markers around old Monterey. Just be aware at this time of year many places are only open on the weekends! But even with that we had a great time!

If you are a history buff, this is a must! You do need to be in good enough physical shape to do a little walking, but there are some really cool things to see.

The Path of History should be visited by everyone (particularly Californian fourth graders who study our state's history). The tour can easily be done self-guided and does not have to take in the complete 2 mile route. You can follow any of the round yellow path markers on the sidewalks in downtown Monterey and read the plaques on the adobes,... More

The reality is that Monterey has a rich history, and what could be better than a nice walk through a beautiful little city with great weather? It costs nothing, you might learn something, and you definitely will get to stretch your legs a bit...

This is a good walking tour of Monterey, if you follow this path and then walk along the water or bike from Fishermans Wharf to Cannery Row you'll have covered most of the actual town of Monterey. Check out PG while in the area too. This tour takes you past several historic sites and gardens and through much of Downtown... More

The path is markers in the side walk. Go to Colton Hall, where the CA constitution was written and get a copy of the path. It is unfortunate that do to State Parks mismanagement, most of the historic houses are closed except for the wonderful Christmas in the Adobes, on Thur. and Sat. one weekend in December. Not to be... More
